In the myst that rises up,
when the morning hits the water,
of the man-made river
that used to be
where I lived.
‘Till I took a walk outside.
I found a door
that the river
washed up one day.
It doesn’t open in
the usual way.
Rusted shut
and worn by water,
slick to my touch.
Must have been
floating out there
for years.
I wanted nothing more.
I could have stayed forever
on the banks of the city
carving steps
into the slope.
But when I had to leave,
I left a lot behind.
Heavy rain came,
washed my things away.
What if I never
see them again?
I know there’s more
to do.
